70 Years Ago—Nov. 11, 1943: US Eighth Air Force activates “Carpetbagger” squadrons to deliver supplies to partisans in Nazi-occupied Europe. US Fifth Air Force, US naval planes, and RAAF make major raid on Japanese base at Rabaul, destroying 55 aircraft.

    Thank you for these wonderful history notes! My dad flew with the Carpetbaggers, but I did not know that it was activated on this date.
