70 Years Ago—Jan. 23, 1944: Australians secure Shaggy Ridge in Finisterre Mountains, New Guinea, securing Huon Peninsula. Off the Anzio landing beaches, the Luftwaffe sinks British destroyer HMS Janus, 159 killed.

    This post reminded me of that WW2 movie set in Australia. I remember liking it, but I can't remember what it was called! Help? Or maybe it was a mini-series...?

  2. How funny :) The Aussies fought really hard - first in North Africa under Montgomery, and then, after Pearl Harbor, they fought throughout the Southwest Pacific. As for the movie...there was that Hugh Jackman/Nicole Kidman movie called "Australia." I'm blanking on others.
