70 Years Ago—Jan. 9, 1944: Flight nurses and medics from the 807th
Medical Air Evacuation Transport Squadron who crash-landed in Albania arrive in
Italy after two months behind enemy lines.
They did! Agnes Mangerich, one of the nurses, wrote a nice account in "Albanian Escape," and Cate Lineberry's recent non-fiction book "The Secret Escape" tells the accounts too - with special insight into what went on behind the scenes with the Allied operatives who rescued them.
They must have had quite the stories to share!
