Years Ago—Aug. 29, 1942: In New Guinea, Japanese break through “Gap” at Isurava on way
to Port Moresby. Australia begins sugar rationing, 1 lb/wk. New song in Top
Ten: “At Last.”
Ex-RAF hubby remembers well sugar rationing until the mid fifties! Happy to say I just picked up my very own copy of 'With Every Letter'(and there is a spot ready for it on the shelves!) Blessings,
Hi Noelle! The US ended sugar rationing not long after the war, but in the UK it did last into the 50s! Amazing. I have no idea how long it lasted in Australia :)
