70 Years Ago—Jan. 2, 1944: US Sixth Army lands at Saidor, New Guinea, finds little opposition, takes harbor and airfield. Gen. Jean de Lattre de Tassigny named commander of Free French forces in North Africa.

  2. I'm sorry...that isn't my area of expertise. I posted articles on Christmas on the US Home Front on Christmas in the US military in WWII last month (check the archives), but I don't have anything specifically on the Philippines.
