Today in World War II History

70 Years Ago—Aug. 2, 1943: PT-109, commanded by future president Lt. John F. Kennedy, sunk off Solomons by Japanese destroyer Amagiri; the survivors swim 4 hrs to a deserted island. At Treblinka concentration camp, 200 Jews lead an armed revolt and burn buildings, but most are killed.
